Introduction

Welcome to 21st century warfare, soldier! Insurgency has a focus on objective capturing and reinforcement-based gameplay. In Insurgency, you will either deploy as a marine or take up arms as an insurgent. The layout of the objective areas and the amount of reinforcements available varies from battle to battle.

In Insurgency, you are either a Commander, or a follower. There is one Commander per Squad or Cell, and this person has a wide range of leadership abilities. Using the Communications Menu, Commanders can call for reinforcements, change the target objective, assign waypoints, or give orders. This Chain of Command gives the Commanders of each team ultimate responsibility for Victory or Defeat.

The team with the better leadership and execution will win, making Insurgency ideal for tactical and competitive gamers. Stick with your team-mates as you sprint from cover to cover, because your heart will be pounding when you're outnumbered and overwhelmed by an enemy force. Rise in rank by getting kills and securing objectives, which are located on your directional indicator on the top of the screen. Proceed with caution however, because you won't know if your enemy is dead until you see their corpse, and you could kill or be killed in one well-placed shot.

Things you need in order to play!

In order to play Insurgency, you need a few things first:

• Half-Life 2
• Steam Account and Software
• 2 gb free on your Hard-Drive
• High speed internet access is recommended!

You cannot play Insurgency online without a Steam account. If you have a copy of Half-Life 2 (or any in HL2 game series) or Counter-Strike: Source already installed onto your PC, then you should already have a Steam account.

Starting up Insurgency

There are several ways to start Insurgency. We'll cover a few on this page.

1.) The normal way to start Insurgency, would be to launch Steam first.

• If Steam is already running (icon would be near your clock/time in the Taskbar), double click the Steam icon in your Taskbar to open Steam.
• If Steam isn't yet launched. You can usually find the Steam icon in several places. You may find the Steam icon either on your PC Desktop, Taskbar, or in your Windows Start menu. Double click on the Steam icon to launch the Steam program.

Once the Steam main menu screen is open:

• Click on the "My games" tab [1.] in the upper part of the menu. Once the tab has opened, it will display all the Valve games you have installed onto your PC.
• Click on Insurgency: Modern Infantry Combat [2.] from the list of games installed on your PC.
• Click the Launch button [3] to start the game.

2.) The quickest way to start Insurgency Mod, would be to double-click an Insurgency game icon from your PC Desktop or Taskbar.

If you don't have an Insurgency icon on your desktop. You can create one by opening Steam, as described above, and clicking the "My games" tab. Once you have done this, right click on Insurgency: Modern Infantry Combat, then select the option to "Create Desktop Shortcut" [Pic]. This will place an Insurgency game icon shortcut on your Desktop. This will allow you to instantly launch Insurgency: Modern Infantry Combat with only having to click the Insurgency icon shortcut from your desktop.

3.) If you have any Valve game installed onto your PC, but you can not find a Steam or Insurgency icon on your Desktop or Taskbar. You can go into your Windows Start menu to locate the program icons.

You should find the Steam software icon here:

• Start Menu -> All Programs -> Valve -> Steam -> Steam software icon

You should find the Insurgency game icon here:

• Start Menu -> All Programs -> Insurgency -> Insurgency: Modern Infantry Combat game icon

After you have done any of the following to open Insurgency, you may have to wait a few minutes for the game to load and the Insurgency main menu screen to come up. It does this to check for online updates and any new information on Insurgency.
